클로드 드뷔시가 1890년에 작곡한 피아노 독주곡으로, 드뷔시 곡들이 그렇듯 이쪽은 정말 달빛 어린 분위기를 표현한 표제음악. 작곡가의 초기작 중 하나인 서정적인 피아노 모음곡 《베르가마스크 모음곡》 가운데 세 번째 곡이다. 관현악으로도 편곡되어 있다. 연주가 그렇게 어렵지 않아 많은 일반인들도 자주 연주하는 곡이다.

우리나라에서는 드뷔시의 달빛이라는 이름으로 잘 알려져 있다. 베토벤의 월광소나타와 구별하기 위한 것인 듯.

 

 

그의 초기의 서정적인 피아노곡집 《베르거마스크 모음곡》 중 제3곡으로, 1890년 작곡, 1905년에 출간되었다. 《베르거마스크 모음곡》은 <전주곡> 《미뉴에트》《달빛》《파스피에》의 4곡으로 되어 있는데, 이 《달빛》이라는 곡명은 P.베를렌의 시 《달빛》 속의 한 구절을 인용한 것이 아닌가 생각된다. 관현악으로도 편곡되어 있으며, 현재 L.스토코프스키가 편곡한 것이 가장 많이 연주되고 있다.
